About The Run 4 Downtown

About The Event

The Run 4 Downtown’s inaugural running was 2006 – born from the owners of Something Sweet Dessert Café’s desire to give back to the community that had embraced their Café in its first two years.

The R4DT, a 4 mile run/walk, has welcomed runners and walkers on the third Saturday of August each year since and has donated in excess of $100,000 toward the continued restoration of Historic Downtown Middletown.

The R4DT is unique in that it is a challenge event – that is, female participants start before males and overall prizes are awarded based upon finishing position, regardless of gender.  Each year’s stagger is determined by finishing times of top males and top females from the year prior.  In 2023 the female head start will be 2:50, a fairly modest gap the result of women finishing first and second overall in 2022.
